"Traditional Games: Discover, Play, Create"

The Cultural Network "Traditional Games: Discover, Play, Create" is a collaboration between the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras and Primary Education–Cultural Affairs, under the scientific guidance of Ms. Kleio Gougouli, Retired Associate Professor in the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Patras, and with the support of the Patras Visual Artists’ Association.

Network Objectives (in brief):

The network aims for students to:

• Practice ethnographic research through interviews.
• Discover and document traditional folk games and the techniques for crafting them.
• Create traditional games.
• Be inspired to invent new games.
• Promote the value of traditional games through outreach activities.

Supportive Online and In-Person Network Activities:

• Seminars/Workshops for educators on topics including:
  • Folk Traditional Games.
  • History of games, purpose, and social context.
  • Interviews about traditional games.
  • Hands-on workshops for educators to craft games (at the Museum of Science and Technology).
• Game construction by students.

Communication Activities:

• Final Event.
• Exhibition of students' and educators' works.
• A digital exhibition featuring works by students and educators.
