The STM’s current thematic exhibition is titled, "Telecommunications in our lives", which shows the characteristics of telecommunications and their development in three themes:

1. Historical development of Telecommunications, which includes:

• Ancient Telecommunications,
• The Telecommunications chronology from mid 17th century until today,
• Screening of scenes from Greek and foreign cinema, using the telephone,
• Interactive Application for the History of Telecommunications,
• Interactive Application for ancient means of Telecommunications.

2. Basic Physics principles which formed the basis for the development of telecommunications, including demonstrations of experiments on the following topics listed below:

Electromagnetism

• Induction Experiments,
• Oersted Experiment,
• Diversion of an electron beam using a magnet,
• Diversion of a current-carrying conductor by means of a magnetic field.

Waves - Optics

• Creation of waves in a water tank,
• Laser Optics: Reflection - Refraction,
• Oscillation of Synthesis: Lissajous Figures, Beats, Amplitude and Frequency Modulation,
• A Short Range Optical Communication System.

Acoustics

• Sound production,
• Sound propagation,
• Sound features,
• Sound phenomena.

Electronics

• Electronic data,
• Lamps / transistors,
• Ιntegrated circuits,
• Digital Logic Gates.

3. Old and modern telecommunications, including museum, photographic, audiovisual and interactive material and information on:

• Wired Telephony,
• Wireless Telephony,
• Satellite Communication,
• Mobile Telephony,
• Different types of Telephone Exchange units, and a demonstration of the operation of the Telephone Exchange unit ATZ-65,
• Radio Communication,
• Sound.
