“Understanding the dynamic relationship between Archaeology and Society through the prism of geosciences” is being organized in the space of the STM.

The exhibition is co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum and the Departments of History and Archeology and Geology of the University of Patras. It starts on November 10, 2022, and will run until February 15, 2023.

The interaction of archeology and geosciences is one of the most important projects worldwide with the scope of highlighting the World Cultural Heritage and understanding the cultural and economic-social development from antiquity to the present day.

The exhibition “Understanding the dynamic relationship between Archaeology-Society through the prism of the geosciences” is based on the pop-up exhibition entitled “Understanding the Dynamic Relationship between Archaeology-Society” which is part of a research program funded by the Regional Government of Galicia, in Spain. The pop-up exhibition aims to highlight the cultural heritage and its rational management in the Mediterranean context with its following social impact.

Making the interdisciplinary approach of research increasingly imperative, in the prism of the connection of Archeology with the Earth sciences, the exhibition is enriched with posters presenting the contribution of geosciences to archaeological research to highlight the contribution of Geosciences to the understanding of prehistoric societies, cultural heritage and the study of archaeological material.

The above-proposed action will be the ideal welcome of the Department of History and Archaeology in Patras and a springboard for the further research and educational cooperation of the parties involved.
