The Science and Technology Museum and the Directorate of Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Achaia, in collaboration with the Hellenic Department of IEEE and the Achaia Branch of the Union of Greek Physicists, organized a Training Day for the teachers of secondary education of the Prefecture of Achaia and the students of UP and other Universities, on the topic: "The Effect of Electromagnetic Radiation on Men and the Environment" on Friday, October 15, 2010, from 9:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event was open to the public and was broadcast by live streaming.

The Conference was held as a parallel activity of the exhibition 'Telecommunications in our lives' that operates in the area of ​​the STM. Its aim was for the participants, on the one hand, to get acquainted with the STM and the Educational Tours that take place in it, on the other hand, to be informed by important scientists about the effects of Electromagnetic Radiation on humans and the environment.

Before and after the start of the Conference, the participants were given a tour of the STM in groups.

The event was opened by the Rector of the University of Patras, G.Panagiotakis, Professor and greeted by: C.Kordoulis, Professor, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and acting Director of the STM, G.Panagiotopoulos, Regional Director of Primary and Secondary Education, E.Pierri, Director of Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Achaia, T.Deligiannis, Emeritus Professor, President of the Union of Greek Physicists of Achaia, A.Skodras, Professor, President of the Hellenic Department of IEEE, G. Papalexiou, President of the Federation of Parents' Associations of Achaia.

In continuation, speeches were heard by:

Ioannis Charitantis, Professor of the Physics Department of the UP, "RF Radiation: Effect on Men, Precautions",

Stavros Kotsopoulos, Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the UP, "Modern Wireless Network Technologies and Networks and Installation Perspectives in Greece",

Philip Constantinou, Professor of the Department of School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, "Metric Systems of Electromagnetic Radiation in the Environment",

George Kagadis, Assistant Professor of the Department of Medicine of the UP, "Molecular Imaging",

Gerasimos Messaris, Medical Radiation Physicist, Department of Medical Physics, University Hospital of Patras, "Pathogenetic Mechanisms of Ionizing Radiation".
