Cultural Network “Art and Technology as a Means of Education”

The Thematic Cultural Network “Art and Technology as a Means of Education” is organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs for Secondary Education of Achaia with the Science and Technology Museum. Its objectives are:

1. The acquaintance of students with the possibilities offered in art by technology to improve the quality of teaching. The awareness of the positive effects on students and teachers.

2. The familiarization of students with the Museum, as an eminent space that relies on art and technology for the realization and presentation of its objectives. Through the network, students will implement actions that strengthen the school-student-museum relationship, as a place of informal learning (mascot design of the STM, writing a poem for the STM, creating a video for the STM, etc.).

3. The education of students in the inextricable relationship of technology and art as vectors for the formation of the student's identity. The students will develop their creativity, and their self-expression and will discover themselves.

4. The familiarization of students with the contribution of technologies to the arts as a means of education. Students will get to know and discover virtual reality, interactive multimedia installations, video art, web-based art, digital museums and their contribution to their education.

5. The contribution of students in the creation of works of art that can be used in education with the help of technology.

Network operation

Within the Network, joint actions of the groups are foreseen, but also actions individually for each group. Teachers can choose to work with their students on one of the suggested topics, or on another, applying the methodology of working in groups - collaborative learning and experiential learning.

Suggested topics:

• Introduction to technology and art in education
• Guided tours by students in an online museum
• Students create works of art (video-art, web-based art)
• Students create works of art for the STM (Mascot, video, poem, song, etc.) using technology
• Creation of a fictional-virtual museum with digital exhibits of students that will capture their own culture.
• Creation of a school-theme library (with topics of science, technology, art, etc.) and its enrichment by specialized websites

Proposed joint actions:

1. Experiential activities to get acquainted with the art forms and technologies used during the network (what they are, what they offer in education, what they offer to students)

2. Meeting of the groups where the students will present the works created in the activities 'The students are creators of works of art', 'Creating a virtual-virtual museum with digital exhibits of students that will capture their own culture' and 'Creating school theme library (with topics of science, technology, art, etc.) and its enrichment by specialized websites '. Students will also have the opportunity to talk to each other by asking questions and evaluating projects.

3. Participation in the event for the Celebration of the European Museum Night where all the actions that will have taken place during the current school year will be presented within the thematic network “Art and Technology as a Means of Education”.
