Educational Programs of the Science and Technology Museum of UP through a web platform WebEx or Zoom.

Following the current developments due to Covid-19, the Science and Technology Museum of UP developed and is offering Distance Learning Programs, through WebEx or Zoom platforms. Well-known Educational Programs of the STM were redesigned to be able to operate through a platform. These Educational Programs include three programs for Primary education and one for Secondary education.

  •  “Discovering the house of Museum kid through the Internet”, for Kindergarten, first and second grades of Primary school
  •   “Me and the others on the Internet”, for the third and fourth grades of Primary School
  •   “Surfing safely on the Internet” for the fifth and sixth grades of Primary School
  •   “Stuck on the Internet? Never!” for Junior High School and High School of Secondary School

Distance Learning Programs will continue to be offered through the platform after the end of the Pandemic, for schools that cannot easily access the Museum.

Teachers have the opportunity to collaborate with the Science and Technology Museum on many levels, they can:

• participate with their class in one or more Educational programs of the Museum. Here

• participate with their class/group in one or more of the Thematic Networks implemented every year by the Museum in collaboration with the Innovative Actions of Primary and Secondary Education. Here

  • participate in a Training Day and/or Seminar and/or Experiential Workshop. Here

  • visit the Permanent and / or the Temporary Exhibitions and attend events addressed to the general public.Here

 

  • offer volunteer work at the Museum. Here

 

  • request the cooperation and support of the Museum in programs that they implement, e.g. ERASMUS. Here

 

 

The Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras collaborates with Departments and Laboratories of the University of Patras and receives visits from groups of students in the context of relevant courses in their curriculum of study.

The Educational tours of the student groups differ depending on the Department and the level of the students. The objectives of the Educational tours of the student groups are adapted in collaboration with the responsible faculty members.

So far, the Science and Technology Museum has implemented programs with groups of students from the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics, Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education.

The Museum is at the disposal of all the Departments of the University of Patras, but also Departments from other Universities or other Higher Educational Institutions for the organization of Educational Tours of its Student Groups.

The Science and Technology Museum carries out a variety of Thematic Educational Programs for all levels of education with various topics related to the permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions of the Museum. The educational programs are planned in collaboration with teachers and students from various Departments of the University of Patras.

The educational programs of the STM that are addressed to classes of primary/secondary education aim at:

• helping students through observation, comparison, active participation and interdisciplinary and experiential approach, to:

      1. Get to know aspects of science and technology as well as their interaction.

      2. Get acquainted with the Museum space and recognize it as a place of fun and learning at the same time.

       3. Be interested in science and technology by stimulating their creativity and imagination.

offering teachers:

        1. An additional educational tool to support their educational work, in an interdisciplinary way on topics related to science and technology, environment, arts, etc.
        2. The ability to connect the Greek and World history they teach in school, with technological αchievements, sciences, etc.
        3. Examples of the relationship between science and technology to evaluate with their students.
        4. Stimuli to cultivate their students' creativity and imagination.

These educational activities include

• Educational Programs for Secondary Education, Junior High School and High School

Educational Programs for the Special Needs

For remote schools and during the pandemic

The educational activities are implemented in collaboration with students of the University in the framework of Internship, Pedagogical Competence, or Volunteering.

The Science and Technology Museum collaborates with the Departments of innovative actions of the Primary and Secondary Education in Thematic Networks, with various topics. Thematic networks last for one school / academic year.

In the context of thematic networks, introductory events are held on the topic of the Network and events in which the created projects of the students are presented.
